Subject: [FlyRotary] Belt life
It may be the case that the alternator as installed is of a higher
output than the one that came on the chassis the motor home is built on.
So, let us suppose that it is the case, and now the single sheave pulley
is no longer adequate, and a two sheave pulley is required. Also, it is
possible that the layout does not provide as much wrap (contact area) for the
belt(s) as is required and is just overheating them.
So, add a sheave, and increase the pulley size about 30% for more wrap
and lower belt stress (bending angle) and tensile load. No more
problems.
