Lots of good experience, advice, and feedback on electrical designs for experimental aircraft. In August of 2007 I didn't know what the heck the alternator field was. Now I have a rebuilt electrical system (Z-19) largely due to the these resources. I too looked at the EXP Bus but decided what I needed was not provided for in that component. And not knowing very much I thought the EXP Bus was a kind of life ring, but a bit more education showed me where it would not float. Too limited for my needs, not expandable, especially with an EC2 system, dual electrical feeds for critical EFI components, dual fuel pumps, etc.
Not to say an EXP Bus would not work, lots of them are flying. Just think about your needs and examine the options.
