Bear in mind that Charlie is not generating much
power, and is relying on drag reduction to get high speed and low fuel
consumption.
Also, on one of those pictures you can see that his
flow path is so direct, that you can see the daylight through the radiator by
looking down the augmentor exhaust. No twists or turns, very
efficient.
