Congratulations John.  At least that's a first step.  Keep plugging
away at it! :)  

The rotary was the only engine I've ever messed with that started on my
first attempt.  The previous one before that was the 350 in my Suburban
after I had the heads rebuilt.  I spent an hour trying to get it
started before finding out I didn't have any gas in the tank.
