Michael,
Well it's a 2 piece (exhaust header) flange(
front piece about 3/16" and backpiece about 3/16"), the inside part has a
small tapered flange of the hole and the exhaust tube has a matching expanded
end which fits over the small taper ( hard to explain, but obvious when
seen) There is an outside ( exhaust header) flange which clamps everything
together ( no welding) - excellent idea. The only problem is that the inside
exhaust header flange may need to be stamped to get tapered flange around the
hole symmetrical, maybe the outside one as well. I will see what the costs
are.
Hope that helps!

Hi George:
As I have not been on PL's list for a while
as I changed ISP and never re-uped my name, could you tell me about this new
construction method.

I haven't been in a hurry to finish it and it's
been at the welders for some considerable time now, however I
have taken that time to re-evaluate it. The recent Everett Hatch method
put up by PL is a good idea to eliminate the problems associated by pipe to
flange welding, but it may have some production issue and may have to be a
stamped part.
