I suspect because a filament in a light may
burn out and then the dynamo would not have a place to dump power and eventually
fry it self ? Remember the old Lucas systems in the BSA and Nortons. The weak
point in the sistem is the rectifier. But if they have a good sact hose with air
they have proven to stand up to the use. The heat sink can take the excess
power and it is designed to work with the dynamo you just have to keep it
cool. I have to admit that electrics and electronics are an obscure art
for this simple brain. I cant see it till it sparks on my finger and
gives me a wallop. I am merely copying elements that I know have worked for
others and contemplating adapting them to our use.

Why not run a light rather, like they do on
