While it is aluminized, I don't know what is underneath the aluminum foil. I can say that it is much thicker than the Zetex material. Mark S. The Lancair comes with a custom firewall blanket.  While it is aluminized, I don't know what is underneath the aluminum foil.  I can say that it is much thicker than the Zetex material.

The Zetex 500, I did buy the roll, mainly to use as a large fire curtain for my welding area!  With Texas humidity my lathe and milling machine do rust, so the silicone material seems idea for my wife to sew up a couple of machine covers for those applications!
