However, I cannot seem to dig up how the LS1 coils
were arrived at as a substitute for the stock 13b
coils.  It would be appreciated if someone could
provide a history lesson on why the LS1 coils seem to
be the chosen alternative to the stock coils.  Was it
weight alone?  More energy?  Better reliability?

 
Tracy may be the only one who can answer this.  I'm betting it's a combination of weight, cost, and availability, with performance being a given.


Oh and
mentioning spark plug wires, if I am using the LS1
coils, do they dictate the use of a particular brand,
core, length, etc.?
