Subject: [FlyRotary] Giving up on single
rotor, selling rotary stuff
Greetings,
After fiddling with my
stock housing version of the single rotor for almost 3 years now, I'm afraid
that I just don't see any future in using it as a replacement for a
912S. Even with the elusive aluminum side housings, it
would be 35 lbs heavier, and still have to contend with all the pulse
reversal issues, and rough idle problems that occur with any single chamber
engine. Bottom line, I'm done spending time and money on the single rotor
project, and I'll be selling the single rotor engine, or just the shafts
(I have two). How it gets sold really depends on whether anyone else is
interested in buying the assembled engine or
not.
Aside from
the single rotor engine itself, I also have an EC2 and EM2 (small
LCD) with all the latest updates, along with the Autoflight redrive that
will fit any 13B. The drive is rated for 160HP, and 6000 rpm, and
is about a 2.5 ratio. It seems well built, and is quite a bit lighter
than the Tracy's drive. It is offset such that the prop can be
higher, or lower than the E-shaft, by a few inches, which could be really
handy in some installations. I also have about 2 complete engines worth
of usable parts, so I believe I have enough stuff for a
complete 2 rotor, 160 HP engine.
My desire would be to
keep this all together, as a good package for something like an
RV-9, where 160 HP is ideal. I have to admit, that I'm considering
building such a plane myself, but haven't decide if it's something I really
want to do. I had planned on building an RV-12 next, but if
I can find a second hand RV project cheap, I might not be able
to resist another two rotor RV.
If anyone has a strong
desire to purchase any of this stuff, let me know and I'll try to get a
better inventory of it all, along with a price. Anyone purchasing
the bulk of the engine parts will have to be close enough to come
get them (near Pensacola, FL), because it just wouldn't be worth the cost and
effort to pack and ship all the heavy engine
parts.
Hopefully, someone REALLY
wants the package of stuff for the two rotor engine, so I can forget
about throwing together another rotary RV. Of course, if
anyone knows of an RV project for sale cheap, I guess I'd like
to hear that as well.
Cheers,
Rusty (unknown
future)
