Actually, I already have the thicker nose gear rod
that Van offered back in 97 or so. So would not have to buy a new one of
those, just get it shortened and re-threaded, plus of course, the new
yoke.
But, I'm going to have to wait until after Jan as the 3-4
week estimated down time would interfere with some planned flights.
I've never had any problem landing it on grass strips, but
then I do keep the nose off the ground and consider every grass strip a
soft-field landing.
Sigh, now Van is issuing those "Mandatory" service
bulletins which apparently have no legal binding status - so appears to be a PYA
(who can blame Van) advice of company lawyers
