Charlie,
It looks like it would make a nice aerodynamic shaped muffler.  The only problem that I see is making sure the cone stays in place inside the casing.  If it comes loose, it could move back and plug the conical outlet.  We have been shown, keeping stuff in place inside the Rotary exhaust is like me trying to keep smoke inside some of my kit built radio equipment
