Monty,
I knew about this.
Why am I mad? I spent all those years sanding, grinding and
otherwise
working WAYYYYY too hard. WHY didn't somebody clue me in? WHY
was this
never
mentioned in any of those damn hot rod books I wasted so much
money on?
I just wanted to get your hackles up! Wow. ;-)
FYI, the source of power can be one of those old power supplies out
of a computer. Voltage is lower thus the process is slower and you
have to jumper the motherboard connector. Another interesting
thing I found out. If your source is one of those new fangled
computer controlled battery chargers it won't work. The computer
thinks it is a short (or that is what I thought it thought ;-) )and
refuses to charge. I fooled mine by hooking the charger to an old
"dead" battery and using my jumper cables to the the object bucket.
I derusted a gas tank by enclosing the sacrificial iron in a pvc
pipe with holes and hooking the negative lead to the tank. I found
that it was easier to find the soda ash in the pool section at the
Local box store (Lowes).
Keep fingers out of the bucket before the power is turned off. Keep
out of reach of children!
