RE: 20B engines
Jarrett,
There are really two main paths for a 20B engine.
You can find them through and by contacting auto engine importers (web
search) as mentioned before. You may have to wait. Going this route you may
not know what condition your getting. Get a picture first it helps, a
little, but you really wont know its true condition until you tear it down.
This route is for those that like tinkering, have the tools to tinker, have
the time to tinker, don't mind replacing bad parts (sometimes expensive),
and are somewhat mechanically inclined.
The other approach is to get your engine already rebuilt and ready. This too
has two courses.
The first is an all original 20b and varies according to modifications. This
is the most expensive route.
The next is built from more readily available 13B parts using only the main
20b components. This also varies according to modifications.
IMHO, If I had the opportunity to start over, I would seriously reconsider
what I did and get a 20B built by / through Bruce Turrentine. But thats just
me rethinking after having spent months thinking about it the first time.
The main point in all this is to be patient, explore all your options, and
make a decision base on what you are willing to do and can afford to do. The
only reason I say "afford" to do is because a pristine rebuilt all original
20B modified for flight and all the bells and whistles can be expensive
coming from some places.
