As usual, I did not take too many photos. I sent to George few from the construction of the muffler. I don't think this site will accept more than one photo at the time?

The flange has short stubs welded on and the two pipes fit on top as slip joints held down with springs attached to the pipes and the flange. Wall thickness is 0.065 SS. The can is rolled from 0.059 SS 321 and welded seem. Also welded 1" wide strap crosswise to the seam. The big pipe with the 1/2" holes is welded to the can lid on one side only. The other side floats in a socket welded to the cap. This pipe is located off-center inside the can. My only concern is longevity and heat. The exhaust discharges into an augmentor that sucks air from around the muffler that has a SS full shroud made from 0.016 SS.
The can glows white at night at full power. Wrapping the can caused the heat flame to shoot 2-3 feet past the end of the pipe. So i unwrapped it and it is better now I think?

Buly,
Did you post a picture of your new muffler system?
I'd love to see what you've created.
