I never measured the bosses - only the injector holes. ( I have attached a drawing from somebody that provides some dimensions that may help - they look about right, but I have not checked them).   I do use the deflectors under the injectors - I would hazard a bet that the primaries (in the block) are probably the area which benefit the most since they are so close to the intake port.  The secondary spray has a bit more time to spread out and vaporize.  But, I do use them both places since I had them.  Also the plastic diffusers provide some heat insulation between the block and the injectors.

Since just about every installation is different, most of us either make or have made the fuel rails and injector bosses for our particular installation.  I use the stock primary port injector hardware to hold the injectors in place and I found AN-6/mm adapters that I could screw in both ends of the stock (the primary fuel rail made of an aluminum casting from the older model 13Bs like 86-87 not the newer  stainless steel tubes) primary rail.  Here are a couple of photos of my intake installation - you can see the secondary fuel rail covered in orange fire-sleeve.  They may help.

For my secondary injectors which are installed in the lower manifold from an N/A engine where the rods for the auxiliary port cylinders had been.  I then cut a stock secondary rail in half (again the cast aluminum type not the stainless steel tube type of later models) tapped each cut end and inserted a AN-6 Fitting.  I then use aluminum tubing to extend the distance and to connect each part of the fuel rail.

There are injector bosses for sale but I don't think they are sized for the Mazda injectors.  You can also buy fuel rail stock and drill your own injector holes in them.  Reaming them to their final size as mentioned in e mails on the topic recently.

Nice to see that every one attending the rotary roundup had a great time.

I have some questions on the fuel injection.  1.  Does anyone have the dimensions for the bosses that are welded onto the intake manifold for the secondary injectors.

        2.  Do you use the deflectors under the injectors.

        3.  Where is the best source for obtaining the parts that are used to mount the injectors.   JohnD
