Glad to hear it's running better Bob.   When you say 35 degrees, is that at idle or are you talking static timing on sensor position (recommended position)?  35 BTDC spark timing  is pretty advanced for idle speed.  At WOT it should be somewhere around 25 BTDC.  35 would be OK for low MAP at 4000 - 5000 rpm.

Beats me, Tony, but the good news is with the coil wires spaced apart, I was
able to get a better timing reading.  I had it a little fast-retarded it to
35 degrees BTDC and it purrs like a kitten now.  With no prop, it will idle
as low as 800 RPM, and smoooothe. Whew!
