Hey, Rusty....check out this combined intercooler and intake manifold...Spearco Core #2-115.  Looks like it would save a lot of space and maybe fit under your stock cowl?  For what it's worth.  Paul Conner

Hi Paul,

I seriously doubt that anything off the shelf will fit in my stock cowl, however, it did give me an interesting idea.  As you know, my cowl replacement project will require that I construct a new intake.  The new intake will position the TB over near the right cheek.  I already figured that I'd have to make a new pressurized air box to bolt to the TB, but now, I'm thinking that I may be able to use one tank of a small intercooler AS the airbox.  That would allow me to skip the airbox, and hose from the (optional) intercooler, and will provide a mount for the intercooler, right in the space of the right cheek.  Yep, something else to think about now.

Thanks for the idea!

BTW, did you get your intake yet?  How does it look?  If you look at it from the flywheel end of the engine, how far to the right of the block does it extend compared to the wrapover manifold?  As you may recall, I had to use spacers to move my turbo out from the engine to clear the wrapover intake.  Another criteria for my new intake will be to allow me to bolt the turbo on without the spacers.

Also, are you going to use the throttle body flange that's on the new intake, or just cut it off and have tubes welded to the runners on the manifold?  The reason I ask, is that I'd like to have the flange if you're planning to cut it off and throw it away.  It will fit the throttle body that I'm thinking of buying (but not the ones that we currently have), so I'd be able to use it on my new manifold if you don't need it.

Cheers,
Rusty
