Thanks for the responses concerning my recent first
flight. I'll try to answer the questions asked.
The estimated takeoff distance
was about 1400 ft with a density altitude of 8700 ft.
The oil and coolant
temperatures both reached nearly 200 degrees F at full throttle and then
stabilized at close to 180 degrees in level flight at 100 to 120 Kt at an
altitude of about 9500 ft. Of course, significantly less maximum power
(and heat) was produced compared to those installations operated near sea
level.
Static engine RPM was 4600
. 5200 RPM was seen in flight before throttling back. Maximum speed
was not attempted.
An EXCEL spreadsheet is
attached with data collected during the flight if it survives emailing and if
anyone wants to look at it. I haven't tried to preserve the
spreadsheet formatting in the body of an email.
I will be away from home until
July 20 and may not be able to respond to emails until then. Please don't
