aw come on, Rusty, you can find a little spot for an intercooler somewhere. Maybe hang it under the plane on adjustable brackets.
 
It's my understanding that piston engines can generally tolerate far more detonation than rotary  
engines.   Because I don't want to break an apex seal just past the departure end of the runway.   
I guess someone needs to test the limits, otherwise we'll never know for sure where they are.
Where, exactly, does that old PSI demon in the skies live?
Who's gonna be the lucky monkey to find him?
