I am still steep on the learning curve, so please put up with my stupid question.  I have a 20B I am putting in a -8.  Do I need to buy a trans bell housing to mount Tracy's redrive?  Will this one work? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=33733&item=2432260216 .  I currently have a Turrentine rebuilt engine.  I believe I also need a flywheel too?

Kevin,

All stock 20Bs use a different end housing and a different stock bellhousing and starter than all the others. You would need a 3rd gen (1994+) rx7 automatic tranny bellhousing and starter. If using tracy’s redrive you might be able to make an adaptor plant to fit his redrive to that. Otherwise you will be missing a bolt or two to hold Tracy’s plate to your engine as the automatic tranny bolt pattern is different as well than the standard trans bolt pattern. All stock 20Bs came in an automatic tranny car, the Cosmo. There were no manual tranny 20Bs. Some have rebuilt their 20Bs using the manual tranny end housing, which is an option.

There is only one bolt on Tracy’s adaptor plate that does not go on the 20 rear housing, and that is at the starter position. No too tough to make a bracket the accept that bolt.

BUT, I don’t have that photo anymore; but I think Bruce put on a 13B rear housing – is that right, Kevin?
