I had the little Lamb main tires on my plane until last summer. They would only last about 100 hours. I put on 5.00X5 tires for better tire life and thought they would give a better ride on rough runways. I sold the little wheelpants to a VariEze guy.
I just installed a set of Vans RV wheelpants on the Long-EZ, and flew this morning. I gained at least 10 knots and maybe 12-15 knots. Engine RPM WOT increased from 6300 RPM to 6400 RPM, which is 2950 prop rpm. 68" pitch prop gives 278.5 fps. = 190 mph = 165 knots, which is also my indicated airspeed now at low altitude. It was around 150-155 knots before the wheelpants.
Anyway, I couldn't use the Vans wheelpant mounting brackets, had to make my own because of differences in the gear legs and brake mounting. So I have these parts available for the cost of shipping:
(1) U-807-R
(1) U-807-L
(2) U-808
First one to contact me privately gets the parts.
