Yep, but remember this was with the RD-1B gear drive.  In 2004 Sun 100 I ran the -C drive and ran at 189.? Kts, same as Bobby Hargrave.

These speeds really do not prove anything in the way of HP though.  Aircraft fit, trim & fairing detail make much more difference than raw HP.  Tracy Sailor's 180 HP RV-6 did not go 206 Kts on horsepower.  The many years of tweaking on the airframe did it.  Dave Anders 200 HP RV-4 now goes 260+ MPH : same story there.

Hi Tracy,

Are the 2004 race results posted anywhere?  I looked for them, but only came up with the 2003 results.

I understand about the airframe tweaking too.  Some of those guys have really made impressive gains by doing hundreds of tiny changes.  I sure don't have the patience for that, and neither does Bob, which is why I picked his plane for a comparison.

I know they didn't have the race last year, but I haven't heard if it's gone for good, or if it will be coming back.  Is there going to be a 2006 race?  If so, what category would you enter with the Renesis?

Cheers,
Rusty (got leather interior, but no airplane yet)
