Hi Bob,

I use fiberglass.   I shape some foam cores to give me the diffusion shape I want and to match the opening and core area.  I then lay over 2-3 layers of medium weight (9lbs?) of fiberglass. If using a type of foam that the resin dissolves, then I use duct tape to cover the foam.

Its somewhat touchy getting the opening of the duct and the cowl to perfectly match.  Someone, I think Bill is using a two part approach. Builds the opening duct as part of the cowling and the back half of the duct separately.  Then when it puts the  cowl the front part (attached to cowl) simply fits up to the back  part attached to the core.  Bill, got any photos.  I do too much experimenting with intakes to make any part of mine a permanent part of the cowl {:>)

Ed,
How did you make the transition peaces between the cowling and the radiator
cores, what material did you use.  I know you told me when we were down at
Charles but I have slept a lot since then,

More than enough, Dennis.  I use AN-16 stainless steel braided line, but if
doing it over would simply use good quality radiator hose and replace them
ever 2-3 years.

Ed and others flying

What size coolant lines are adequate?  I may go with AN or socketless type
hose and am considering 1 inch ID for the coolant and 1/2 inch for the oil
lines.

Thanks,
