The other day when I taxied over to get some gas, four guys who were
prowling around the airport came over to see what I was running.  They
seemed to think the engine was fairly quiet.  Someone noticed the small
oil leak from the top connector on the oil cooler.  I explained that I
had not been able to get a new copper seal, so had tried to reuse the
old one.  He told me I could rejuvenate the old one by heating it red
hot with a torch, then quenching it in water.  He said he hadn't bought
a new one in years.

I did as he suggested but haven't started the engine yet.  I still have
a wing hanging loose while I wait for a new batch of ProSeal.  A second
oil leak at the drain plug was due to not tightening it up.  I've
replaced the drain plug with a drain valve that allows me to drain the
oil thru a hose rather than letting it pour out over the radiator.  If I
can get the redrive oil return line leak fixed (parts on order), that
should fix all known leaks.
