Cooling.  The friction = losses in the planetary at continuous high power would overheat the oil.  The = “towing package” on most any pick-up or van likely includes a trans oil = cooler (did on my Dodge van).  Most (I think) autos with higher powered = engines (again, mine does) have a trans oil cooing loop that is either part of = the rad, or in the lower (return) rad tank.
