Bill, I will try to get there as best I can.  I am scheduled to leave for IRAQ on the 14th so it might be a little sketchy.  I might possibly talk the wife into coming along but I really doubt it... but you never know.

One bonus is that I am going to drop the plane off to be painted somewhere before I leave.  My painter of choice is probably GLO painting north of DFW:

They are located at 52F which I see is less than 50 miles from you.

Lately I have been leaning toward getting the painting done locally because of the distance and some of the folks around here would volunteer to look after my plane while I am in Iraq.  But your fly-in may be just the enticement especially if you might be willing to look after my plane while I am in Iraq.  I'm not sure what that will entail.  I plan to get a tie-down wherever the paint shop is.  Looking after the plane will probably just entail being available to assist if something unexpected needs to be done.  I sure would help to have someone familiar with the Rotary and Tracy's stuff in an RV-6 (like yourself) to be available in case there is a need.

The last thing I would need is a ride home.  Is there anyone coming from the west  coast(or just have some free time - Tracy, Ed, Bernie, Bill?) that could give me a ride back to San Diego?  (I'll pay round trip gas costs...)

No, no Dave you can't leave you plane sitting like for months on end, there is nothing worse for a plane.  What your plane needs are lots of regular flying hours to keep every well lubricated and dry.  You also don't want to have your plane tied down out in that Texas heat and humidity. As I am always eager to support our men and women in the armed services who serve our country,  I will fly and hanger your plane for you at no charge while you are in Iraq.
