The small handheld tool
looks like it would work well & for $30, it would be a good
investment.
The larger
benchmount tool is identical to the one I have at home. It was the forerunner to
the model that I sent the pic of. It works but no where near as well as the
newer version. One of ours at work broke and this is when the boss bought 3
of the new ones for the shop. The broken one was discarded, so I
resurrected it.
I wouldn't buy this tool,
as it really is inferior to the new style. Neither of these benchmount tools
actually need to be bench mounted (none of ours are)
Even though I've not
actually seen or used one of the small handheld tools, from the pic it looks
like it would do just fine and would be the best choice for an occasional
user.
There seem
to be two tools in the Aeroquip catalog for this purpose. One is a
handheld tool, that will only do -4,-6, and -8 sizes. Amazingly Summit has
it in stock, for only about $30. http://snipurl.com/l59l
The other tool is bench mounted, and is probably the one
you were referring to. I found a number of FT2015, but no online
prices. Out of curiosity, I sent an email to HoseXpress. They list
both tools, but no prices.
You can afford to spend a gazillion dollars
on a Lyc AND a 396??
The term is "invest", not "spend". At the
moment, building an RV with a new Lycoming, and CS prop is a better investment
than my 401K. When I built my first RV-8, I thought long and hard
about putting a rotary engine in it, but (very wisely $$$) decided against
it. When I sold the plane, the profit essentially paid for the
whole RV-3 experiment.
Honestly I do agree with
this, however that won't stop any of us from giving you a hard time about going
over to the dark side :-)
