This tool makes installation very simple. I can't find any online prices, but I don't think they're very expensive.

Hi Todd,

That link didn't work for me, and gave an error about not allowing "external" connections.  I'm going to guess that you're viewing this from work, probably as a registered customer.

There seem to be two tools in the Aeroquip catalog for this purpose.  One is a handheld tool, that will only do -4,-6, and -8 sizes.  Amazingly Summit has it in stock, for only about $30.   http://snipurl.com/l59l

The other tool is bench mounted, and is probably the one you were referring to.  I found a number of FT2015, but no online prices.  Out of curiosity, I sent an email to HoseXpress.  They list both tools, but no prices.

You can afford to spend a gazillion dollars on a Lyc AND a 396??

The term is "invest", not "spend".  At the moment, building an RV with a new Lycoming, and CS prop is a better investment than my 401K.  When I built my first RV-8, I thought long and hard about putting a rotary engine in it, but (very wisely $$$) decided against it.  When I sold the plane, the profit essentially paid for the whole RV-3 experiment.

Unfortunately, times haven't changed that much wrt resale of alternate powered planes.  My hope is to keep the RV-8, and actually fly it, but realistically, everyone here knows as well as I do that I'll be selling it within a couple years.  As quickly as I go through projects, I just can't afford to lose money on them all.

Todd     (will trade hose tool for 396)

No way hoser :-)

My buddy just looked at the single rotor and said there was a small puddle of water/coolant (?) forming under the oil/water exchanger.  Hope it's from the leaky hanger roof, but I doubt it, since that's right where one of the leaks was Sunday.  Rats.  In my defense, this is just an NPT pipe plug in the exchanger, and I didn't weld any of it!  Pretty depressing that it leaks even when not pressurized.   I'll take a look Sat, when I take the new prop bolts out, and attempt ignition (AKA find out what I miswired).

Cheers,
Rusty (where did I put that old Proseal)
