I've invited plenty of people not in the US, it works.

I'll take an invitation or two if anyone has any available. But has anyone
outside of the US tried one yet? Their website says that it is only
available in the US and to get an invite via them you need to have a US
mobile phone #, however I can't see why you would need to be in the US in
order to access your account.
The main reason I'd like one is to forward to a friend of mine who is going
to be working as a pilot in the very far north (Iqaluit & Resolute Bay). The
pilot houses that the company provides have wireless net connections, so all
the users need to have a webmail address. Unfortunately with Hotmail, etc.
you must be connected to read and compose e-mail. Since it appears that
Gmail supports POP3 protocol, he will be able to use an e-mail program to
upload & download e-mail when within wireless range but able to read &
compose e-mail while out-of-range, but during stop-overs, etc. This would be
much more convenient.
For similar reasons it would also work well for me when I return to tech
school, which is why a second invite would also be appreciated.

Warning: the G-mail user interface takes some getting-used-to.
It lumps threads together via the subject line - which is nice, when
you come back from a multiple day trip and there
are hundreds of new messages.

One nice thing about gmail is you can use POP protocol with it, so you
can use your email program instead of the web interface if you want.
