I just found a tach locally that "should" work, if you're willing to use the inductive pickup that comes with it.  You'll be happy to know that it's 3 -  3/8" round as well.  According to the online manual, it's fully programmable for 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,10,and 12 cylinders, so I think we're covered.  If I have any more trouble with my Tiny Tach, I'll be heading down to the store to pick one of these up.   
 
 
I bought one of these, and got a chance to test it briefly today.  I just had to see if it would work with the LS-1 coil trigger signal, and amazingly, it does!  I didn't run the engine over about 2500 rpm, so this wasn't a full test, but I'm pretty optimistic at this point.  I just set the tach to "2 cylinder", and it reads correctly.  Sure hope it does the same at high rpm.
