Rusty, FWIW I agree in general with the comments about "legal" gross
weight. My RV's design gross weight is designated by Van as 1650 lbs.
however, the tail plate and my aircraft airworthiness paperwork has its
"legal" gross weight as 1800 lbs. That way when I'm loaded to 1651 lbs. on
the way to Sun & Fun, I am legal. The way insurance companies are now a
days, I don't want to give them any technicality to hang there "no payment
of claim" on. Also, I make it a point not to land at gross weight {:>).

I did the same thing, set gross at 1800 because all the other LEZ guys do it (this is much higher than
Rutan's original GW). But with my power level 1600 is really the limit I feel comfortable with.
