It happens when you are involved in an accident or landing = incident or.....? One of the first things the investigators look at concerns the = aircraft's weight. If it was over gross weight, chances are your = insurance company will fight the claim, as you were flying over gross = weight. That's why most LongEZ's bump their gross weight up. You are = the manufacturer, and you set the weight limitations. (Be reasonable of = course). Even if you don't have insurance, if you are over gross weight, = of course the investigators are going to call it pilot error, possibly = exposing you to lawsuits etc. Best to be flying legally in the event = something happens. That's what I was advised to do on my LongEZ and the = DAR had no problems with it. Just another opinion, for what it's worth. = Take care.
