Tracy has already shown how to shave off a couple of pounds:
Cut the plate along a curve from spacers in close to the drive and back out to the next spacer. I'm sure there are pictures on his website or someone has photos they can post of his installation.
You can also drill holes or mill pockets in the spacers.
