Subject: Home Again!!
Hi Gang,
Well, after scooping out a bird's nest from my
engine inlet duct this AM (a sure sign of the aircraft being static too long
{:>)), I successfully launched and made it home after almost one brake fire,
one engine rebuild and 4 weeks of being gone. Found 540 rotary e mails
waiting - not going to attempt to wade through them {:>), so if anyone had a
specific question for me - please re send.
Got more "honey dos" waiting than any man should have, but
its great to be home.
Rotary rebuilds in Cajun country is not for the faint of
heart {:>) - actually, the only problem is there are simply no rotary houses
around and every part has to be shipped in. Fortunately, my farmer
brother-in-law had most of the tools and a garage to do the rebuild in. I
did rediscovery why I don't come back home often - the heat and particularly the
humidity just about did me in.
Want to thank your all for your suggestions and
particularly those of you who offered to travel considerable distances to render
assistance. This time it appears I got all the parts together correctly
with no undue "tightness". Coolant pressure remained below 10 psi for the
entire trip - so appears the hot spots on the side housings did not warp them
and the rings are holding.
I'll try to get up on the exciting events that have been
occurring on the list while I was off of it.
Best Regards
Ed
