The thickness of the wire in the windings sets the maximum continuous current. The higher RPM will allow a higher voltage, if you wanted it, say for a 28 volt system.
You could re-wind the stator with fewer turns of thicker wire, perhaps. This would raise the minimum RPM that would produce 14 volts, but would allow greater amperage.
It is also within the realm of possibilities that you could replace the regulator with a much more elaborate DC to DC converter type. This could "buck convert" the high voltage (at high RPM) to low voltage with greater amperage.
