It gets better as the speed increases, but it's not "spooky smooth" like I described it before.  Until I do some tuning, there is no idle.  It won't run below about 2000 rpm, but this is something that Tracy is sure is a tuning problem.  I would like to start working on tuning the engine this weekend, and I've been whining as hard as I can to get Tracy to send me the new firmware.  He now offers an option of using his actual engine parameters as a default, instead of the normal factory default (which is still an option).  That would put me in the ballpark quickly.

Waaaaa can I have my firmware now Tracy :-)

Working on it now Rusty.

A comment I've had to make to almost every EC2 user is "Don't be afraid to use that mixture control!"  It seems that many users are afraid to adjust it for fear of doing damage to the engine.  The only time this is even possible is when running high boost and you lean it to the critical edge of detonation.  Note that there is NO mixture setting that will hurt the engine when normally aspirated (or below 30" Hg manifold pressure) assuming the ignition timing is in the ball park and engine is below 6500 rpm.

So, if that engine is running too rich and you havent done the MAP setup (why not?), reach over and turn that mixture control left (lean) when at idle.  Idle & low speed is where the engine will always be too rich with the default MAP table setup.  Prior to running at high throttle, turn the mixture control up as needed.   And always keep an eye on the mixture monitor during setup.
