I try to avoid = getting technical as I found when I was an officer in a Research and = Development organization that when you did, you simply lost most of your = audience. So I guess you could call this an attempt to "Popularize" = the rotary for aviation, that way I figure those who become interested = will soon find sufficient material to whet their craving for technical = knowledge. I just finished several weeks finally working out the Dynamic = Supercharging Effect that Mazda used. Conceptually it was simple, the = devil was in the details and coming up with the equations that would = give you the right length of intake manifold for any selected rpm. = Turns out any change to the stock intake porting has a major effect on = the lenght of manifold required. So the next step is to fabricate a new = (the 4th) intake manifold to see if I can benefit for the knowledge. Tracy Crook was moaning about having to answer all the phone calls and = questions after the article appeared. I told him not to blame me, if he = hadn't won the race and best auto engine, I probably would not have had = the material for a story that would have interested KITPLANE. I think that is the sixth article concerning rotary aircraft I have had = published, but KITPLANE was certainly the one with the largest number of = readers. I always look for an opportunity to put an article into a = flying magazine about the rotary.
