I can only imagine what it took for Carol to sit at that keyboard and type
out a notice to the list about her husband's death. What really got to me
was the ownership that it seems she took in the project. My heart goes out
to her and their family.
I will agree that speculation about what happened will only cloud the facts.
It is my personal belief that good can and will come out of every thing that
we do, and what good will come of this event? Only God knows for sure.

Words well spoken, Bernie
It felt like a gut punch when I first read Carol's message. But, as you
point out, we are not sitting at home in our rocking chair when we climb
aboard our experimental rotary powered aircraft. Having had my share of
"troubles", I can tell you calling someone on the ground-who can not help-is
far down my priority list (actually not even on it). Paul was as cool a
pilot as I have know and I am certain few could have coped any better with
whatever Paul faced. Sometimes, the best of efforts is not enough and the
good guy does not win. On the other hand, I have only to look at the FAA
accident daily list to know that what happened is not unique to our small
group. But, it always hits harder when its someone you know, respect and
like.
