Beyond me to offer any useful criticism or suggestions one way or the other.  However, I am wondering about the effect on airflow in the square tubes in the corners.  It seems I recall that using a square tubing for the exhaust is good because the sharp corners cause disruption of the airflow which in the case of the exhaust helps to lessen the noise level.  But, again that's just hearsay.  Be interesting to see how such a project turns out.

Subject: [FlyRotary] Inlet plenum

To All,
I have been thinking about the problems with getting a bent tube fitting close enough to the engine for an over engine installation on the inlet manifold.

My solution was to use a laser cut shaped bend, from flat material and have a square OR rectangular tube. The top and bottom being flat material is easily bent to fit the laser cut material. I figured this to be the best next thing to a perfectly fitting tube - more area as well.

Next I thought about a plenum and thought how a box shaped plenum would do.

Then I thought if I'm having a box why not build the square shaped tubing into the internals of the box. I ended up with a Box with an approx size of 6"x8" with a passage measuring ( centreline) approx 16.5".

As we're looking for a tuned intake between 18" to 21", I figure I'm not far off the mark and a small straight tube ( square or round) running from the box containing the butterflies and injectors, would make up the difference.

So what do you chaps think about this arrangement - does it have some merit OR are there problems I'm not seeing.
