    Kelly.
I picked-up a second hand set of pulley, timing wheel and pick-up
for $100 Aust - new cost was about $170 for Pulley/Timing wheel
and $93 Aust for pick-up. Mine was off a Mazda demonstrator engine
    and didn't have much use.
The timing wheel is attached to the pulley by bolts through the
pulley. I don't know why you have to buy them together! I will
know more when I get them.
But the way to go, I believe     George (down under)

From what I can pick up from the conversation, the RX-8 uses some sort of optical pick-up from a wheel attached to the crankshaft through the pulley.  What is the advantage in our application?  Compactness? Lightness?  Durability? Anyone have a picture they could share?

This is by far the hardest lesson about freedom. It goes against
instinct, and morality, to just sit back and watch people make
mistakes. We want to help them, which means control them and their
decisions, but in doing so we actually hurt them (and ourselves)."
