Dennis, I agree with your assertion. In fact
here is an extract (sorry about the poor legibility) from a report on NASCAR
radiators. Contrary to some opinions which advocate large thin radiators,
its clear that thick radiators would not be used my NASCAR if there were not
some advantage to doing so. There speeds and dynamic pressure potential
are much more closely akin to our environment than the mom and pop automobile
and its operating environment. Our use of GM Evaporator cores (3 1/2"
thick) have proven quite successful and I think its more than a coincident that
the NASCAR guys are using an average of 3 1/2" thick radiators.
Those guys spend $$$$ for even a slight
improvement, so you know they have done their home work.
