I guess I would include the 3 master relays (Batt-1, Batt-2 and Alt) on the Battery Buss. I would guess the essential buss would be where your fuel pumps, fuel control and ignition would be. I might charge the batteries through diodes so as to isolate the backup batt from the system until it's selected. One common stud on the Essential Buss a terminal block for both batteries, Alternator output, cable to Essential Buss and diode protected charging cables to batteries.
