RE: [FlyRotary] Re: oil return location?

Greetings,

Thanks to all who have sent pictures, and offered suggestions about my oil dilemma.  As I mentioned previously, I have a fitting on the way, that should work for the oil cooler return port, so that should be settled.  Oil to the redrive and turbo will come from a port that is on the top of the “front” iron housing.

The only remaining question is where I return the oil from the redrive and turbo, and I’ll take a new look at my options IF I ever get my engine free from Franken-cowl :-)

For the record, I will not be drilling any holes in the engine as long as it’s sealed up.  If I ever pull the oil pan, I might consider drilling the return hole in the housing “foot”.  Unfortunately, I just can’t picture exactly where you’re talking about drilling this hole.  Can someone post a pic with an arrow to the location of this return fitting?

Thanks,

Rusty

PS- This cowl mod is possibly the most frustrating thing I’ve ever done.  On several occasions, I’ve come very close to throwing the whole thing out by the road, and starting over on an entirely new cowl.  The only thing that stops me is the fact that I don’t know what the final configuration of the engine will be.  The big ugly Franken-cowl will fit anything I need, including a 2nd gen oil cooler if my oil/water heat exchangers don’t work out.  Once I find out what stays, and what goes, I can make a new cowl.  In the mean time, I may have to wear a ski mask to hide my identity if I land somewhere :-)
