believe he drills out the brass plug from the pan side of the rear housing,
then uses a long 3/8 inch bit to drill through the oil gallery at the top
of
the housing to interconnect the gallerys.

After reading Kelly's message, I seem to recall something about this mentioned a few years ago, but I didn't pay it much attention as I was only building a rudder at the time. I may be mistaken but it wouldn't hurt to check in the archives. In any case I'd say a call to Bruce is in order, because as you say, he certainly wouldn't build an engine without a functioning lubrication system. Better find out what he had in mind.
