I took an aluminum extrusion = that is basiclly a 2" x 6" hollow piece that is somewhere around 20 in = inches long, and had aluminum caps welded on both ends (which made a = box). I then had 1/2 inch thick x 1inch square aluminum blocks welded = onto the outside of the tank where I wanted to put fittings, and drilled = and tapped these for 1/4" npt. Very strong and simple.
