I blocked mine off at the housing per Tracy's manual; however, I wouldn't
mind putting the shaft back in to drive the pump with external 2-cycle oil
supply since I will have to pull the front cover off to check on that little
oil pump key. Will the shaft be properly lubricated if this is done?

Hi Wendell,
There is enough clearences and leakages for shaft will lubrication. There has been no failure reported on any engine using two cycle oil with the OMP.
