If you've insured a factory plane through a local agent, give them a
call. You might find that an agent that knows you combined with the 'RV'
in the plane's name can get you coverage at a reasonable price  by
calling the right underwriter & pleading your case.

Thanks, but I've never owned (and probably never will) a factory plane. This
is my third homebuilt, the last one being an RV-8 that I built and flew for
2 years.  I had that plane insured with NationAir, at a good rate, no
claims, etc.  Unfortunately, when I bought the RV-3, and announced my
intentions to use a rotary engine, NationAir said there was no way they
could cover it.  Realize that I had an active policy with them at the time
for the RV-8, and they STILL wouldn't consider it.  This was all discussed
on the RV list, so you could look up their statements in the archives.  Of
course things change, and they may even be able to offer it now, but I
probably won't call them.

I called Falcon today, and they said they would be able to offer coverage,
and told me an agent would call me back as soon as they got off the phone.
That was about 10 hours ago.  Must be a long call :-)

I also called SkySmith, and they seem like the right people to be talking
to. They said they would be able to offer anything from liability only, to
full coverage, and they're getting me quotes for liability only.

Cheers,
Rusty
