On the subject of the Teflon Hinge pin:

I ordered .090 OD Teflon spaghetti tubing from Mcmaster Carr (5335K17) and
.0625 OD 304 music wire for the hinge pin (9495k93). It fits together
nicely, though I have not flown with it.

The .0625" OD pin should hold ~150 lb/joint ultimate, ~50 lb/joint (1200
lb/foot) fatigue with a 0.500" hinge gap spacing.
