I, for one, am glad Lancair it taking more time to develop and refine the
parts we will be shipped. Historically manufacturers (not just Lancair)
have been too anxious to ship product and satisfy customer demand then deal
with the problems of fit-design-building procedure. It costs the builder a
lot more time and frustration and the Kit Mfg. time and money too. One of
the biggest advantages the Legacy has is that the parts fit and so far
nothing has required rework to solve a problem that could have been solved
so easily at the mfg. level. This makes the building experience much more
enjoyable for me.
I was very encouraged to see Carsten and Bob Fair building their own
Legacys, trying some new ideas and innovations. We will all benefit from a
well thought out, more refined design. I believe, in the long run, the kits
will be faster to build and better as a result. I don't think too many
Legacy builders are so far along that they have nothing to do until more
parts arrive. Development time = win/win to me.
