Awhile back I commented on the shop where I'm building my ES in the San
Diego area.  For the benefit of new list subscribers, I think it bears
repeating.
  Like AirCrafters, my shop lets me use all tools, gives me a key to the
shop so I can stay late or work when no one's there and looks for a minimum
of $2,000 a month in labor.  They've been doing this for a long time, have
built several 320/360's, two IV-P's.  They're currently working on a IV,
we're
about 60% done with my ES and the first Legacy arrives this summer.  A lot
of the jobs have been to help owners finish partially completed kits and get
them into the air.  They're recommended by the Lancair factory and have done
extensive repairs to composite planes that have come in for work.  The only
big
difference is that the hourly rate I pay is $28, not $50.  The shop's owner
is
